Research and Development
Due to its corporate history, Sistemi Territoriali has always believed in and invested in research and development, both by participating in research projects with Regional, National and Community funding and by investing internally with its own funds. For this reason, the company has an active laboratory dedicated to research and development, which has as its main objectives those of:
- Reinforce ever more the close relationship existing for historical reasons with the world of research and the University
- Develop own solutions in the areas of GIS, BI, Geo BI, Big Data and Open Data
- Innovate in emerging technology sectors and new markets (e.g. Geo BI, Graph interfaces and Social Network Analysis)
- Continuously train the staff
- Participate in regional, national and European research calls (e.g. Horizon 2020)
Among the main activities carried out over the years by the laboratory of Research and Development are mentioned:
- Development of one of the first Internet Map Servers (Sister IMS, 1998)
- Adding Geographic Analyses to SAS on the Web (IMS Cube in1999, ST GeoBridge in2007)
- Development of one of the first geo business intelligence platforms (StatPortal) with integration of tabular, graphic and cartographic reports
- Development since 2006 of a system of graph data browsing and social network analysis
- Development since 2010 of one of the first platforms to create open data portals (StatPortal OpenData)
With its dedicated laboratory, Sistemi Territoriali has participated and is participating in several research and development projects such as:
- BINET for the application of Business Intelligence to social networks - POR Single Call for Research and Development 2008 of Tuscany Region
- SIGIEC for the implementation of a decision support system to tackle coastal erosion - NOP Research and Competitiveness 2007-2013
- "ODINet - Online Data Integration Network" - CReO ERDF 2007-2013 programme of Tuscany Region
- "Open City Platform - Cloud Computing Technologies for Smart Government" - Priority area of research "Cloud computing Technologies for Smart Government"
